This is a simple assessment tool that I use to provide students with greater accountability, focus, and reflection. Directions:
1.) Give this handout to each student group prior to beginning group work. Have each member record his or her name at the top of the chart (there are four slots, one per each member, by default). Have them set a goal for the day's class. Have them hang on to the handout.
2.) At the end of class, have each group member self-assess in the column provided. They can briefly reflect on what was accomplished. I collect the chart at the end of each class and then return it when students continue group work the subsequent day. Students move down the chart and repeat.
★ I have found this is a useful motivational tool, and it is surprising how well students respond to it. In addition, this could be used in an English Language Arts classroom discussion, during work on a lab assignment in a science classroom, during a seminar in a history class, etc. This can be used in any content area.
★You can easily add or delete columns. Right click on a column, add select insert or delete to modify. You can easily enlarge the individual spaces as well by clicking and dragging. You can also copy and paste the table to separate pages to add more days.
