Product Description
Looking for a great culminating project for your soil unit?
This step by step booklet takes your budding scientists through the process of creating the soil, planting the seeds, observing the plant growth, analyzing and comparing the results.

For this experiment the students use what they learned about three types of soil: sand, clay, and humus to decide how to build the best soil for growing plants.

In the product you will find:

•Teacher Tips
-Classroom tested tips to help you get the best results for your students' experiments.

Student Recording Booklet- Students will record each step and the results in this booklet. This booklet also contains all the step by step directions your students will need for their experiment.

•Step 1 Build Your Soil- Using clay, humus and sand, students will decide how many small cups of each to build the perfect growing environment. They are also asked to explain why they think their combination will create the best growth results.

Step 2 and 3 Plant Your Seed and Make a Prediction- Students will follow the provided directions for planting their seed, draw a picture of their soil and make a prediction for how tall they think their plant will grow.

•Step 4 Watch it Grow- Several observation pages are included for students to see and track their plant growth.

Step 5 Analyze the Results- At the conclusion of the experiment, students will analyze their results and are asked to explain if they would change their soil choices if they conducted the experiment again.

Step 6 Compare Group Results- Students will share their results with the class to fill in this comparison chart and see which soil combination worked best!
