This is part of a series of mini stations I have created to make use of plastic eggs available at this time of the year. Growing Syllables provides an opportunity for students to sort fruit and vegetable cards by the number of syllables they have. Mats are provided for this purpose.
In addition to this, students can practice these same skills in a strip book where they have the opportunity to sort cards that must be cut and pasted by the number of syllables they have. This book can be used as an assessment tool or as an independent activity.
Once this center has been introduced and modeled, it can be used collaboratively, allowing students to work with a partner.
What is included in this mini station?
1. Fruit and vegetable cards that are stored in the purchased containers. (plastic carrots)
2. Sorting Mats for the cards ( 1-4 syllables are used)
3. A label for the station
4. Student friendly directions
5. Strip books with cut and paste cards for sorting
This is a real favorite in my classroom. It is perfect for intervention and my Speech and Language teacher loves using it for therapy.
