This packet includes an integrated measurement, graphing, and writing activity. After listening to "Planting a Rainbow", the students read facts about four flowers and use rulers or Unifix cubes to measure the height of the stems in inches on a garden worksheet. The flower tops are cut out and glued to each measured stem. Insects that are attracted to the flowers and insects that are pests are added to the picture to complete the garden. The students graph their favorite flowers on a bar graph and the results of the graphed data are discussed orally or by using a set of guiding questions. The students then respond to an opinion prompt while using the information provided on the fact cards to support their reasons “why”.
