After researching growth mindset, I knew it was important to incorporate it authentically into my classroom and to make some changes to the way my students and I reflect on behavior and learning. I use these behavior levels & levels of understanding to have students self-assess and think about what they are doing well and how they can improve, both in their behavior and their learning. It helps give students voice and ownership in our classroom, and it also helps me authentically and quickly assess my students throughout the day.
I also included weekly reflection sheets I use in my class during reading and writing workshop to encourage independence and self-reflection. My students spend a lot of time collaborating and working independently while I am working with small groups, and I love using these to hold them accountable for that time.
