The Conceptual Classroom

Growth Mindset is a term widely popularized by Stanford Mathematics Professor and Education Consultant Jo Boaler and Education Researcher Carol Dweck. The distinction between a “fixed mindset” and a “growth mindset” is dependent on a person’s thinking of their brain as either static (unchanging) or dynamic (changing). Research shows that our brains create new neural pathways with hard work. This information is something that can provide our students with motivation and willingness to work hard.

This is the first volume in a series on Growth Mindset, for upper grades (3rd-6th). Within Vol. 1, there are lessons to introduce and build a classroom culture focused on Growth Mindset. While the unit is intended to be delivered sequentially, of course you can pick and choose or modify. As the teacher, you know your classroom best!

Inside this unit, you will find the following:

Guide for Use
Teacher Background Knowledge page
Student Survey
Student Survey Results with QR Codes
Student Survey Results without QR Codes
Pages on "What is Success?"
Pages relating successes and mistakes
"Mistake-ful" Art Project
Pages of "mistakes" for art project

Check out the preview to get an idea of the level of verbiage used. If you're looking for more primary level, I will soon be adding a LOWER GRADE SERIES that will match these contents but for grades K-2nd.
