If I had a nickle for every time I heard a student say "I just can't do it" or "I'll never get better" I would be one rich teacher.
At the same time, we have all heard the "Practice Makes Perfect" saying so many times, its a broken record. I love teaching my students about growth mindset and I wanted a quick way to help them 1. Understand how practice actually improves the brain and 2. See quickly how it works in their own brain
I prefer to use this worksheet before the Powerpoint (free & linked in the teacher instruction page). It's a great discussion starter and then they will understand the Powerpoint even more. You could then also move into a skill you want them to get better in, like multiplication facts, finding factors, etc.
*The powerpoint involves/follows a GREAT 4 minute TED Talk.
