Use as task cards, short response writing prompts, or a fun SCOOT Game! Great for test prep and the conversations that go along with getting ready to test.
“Growth Mindset SCOOT” provides a fun and motivating way for your students to reflect on the ways in which they react to new learning opportunities and challenges. It’s a great activity at the beginning of the year, as new units are introduced, or as a reflection at the end of the year. The questions on these cards are also perfect to use for brain break discussions, as writing prompts or prompts for a growth mindset journal.
The rules are just like your usual Scoot games, and there are 28 question cards in all. Break cards are also provided, giving you a way to adjust the number of cards used for fewer or more students. The response choices are in random order to encourage students to answer honestly rather than selecting all answers they think you’d prefer. One choice reveals a growth mindset, while the other three choices reflect a fixed or even negative mindset. There are blank cards provided as well for you to add some questions unique to your plan for your students.
The responses can be used later as students discuss and write about their responses as fixed or growth mindset. The responses to these questions will surely give you another way to get to know your students. I’ve included optional pages to use for making a growth mindset journal. Just print front to back with blank four card pages and then cut apart. Attach with a staple, ribbon, or plastic ring.
I hope you will enjoy using this version of SCOOT to focus on Growth Mindset in your learning community this year!
