Learning Objective

Students will learn about growth mindset and International Dot Day.

Description

Are you looking for an activity to easily teach your students about developing a growth mindset? I have you covered with this lesson plan and craftivity! Students will partner up to participate in shared artwork, discuss the mindset they had after doing the activity, discover how to change their fixed mindset to a growth mindset.

This is a great activity for International DOT DAY as well! Read The Dot by Peter Reynolds first, then do the activities. Finally, compare/contrast their feelings with the girl in the story.

The craft has the students create a little mini me of themselves (boys and girls) with a pocket behind the head as the brain, and write thought bubbles representing their NEW Growth Mindset. Turn this into a bulletin board with the included banner. Students can add to the growth mindset all year by writing new mindsets they have on the thought bubbles and placing them into the "brain pocket." (check out the video preview) You can also use their own photo for the head.
