In a growth mindset, people believe their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work; brains and talent are just the starting point.
As teachers, these are attitudes we should foster in our students. Growth Mindsets: Challenging Perceptions about Learning is an introductory lesson, which is designed to get your students thinking about their own mindset towards learning.
This lesson is a great "get-to-know-you" activity for the beginning of the school year but can also be used any time you wish to challenge your students perceptions about learning.
Students will evaluate five statements about learning, conduct a gallery walk, and participate in a class discussion about the five statements.
✓ One high-quality PowerPoint
✓ Detailed teacher directions
✓ Student handout
✓ Learning goals
