Suitable for Spanish 3 and up, this mini-unit will take anywhere from 3-5 days depending on how much discussion you include. Personally, I created this for Spanish 4 and my unit on the Spanish Civil War. This would also make a fantastic base for a thematic exam.
This unit includes:
*Detailed unit plan
*List of links for further research or exploration and resources
*Art vocabulary / online game suggestions
*Advance organizer activity for brainstorming about the painting
*Guernica in pairs, small groups, and individually
*2 page reading “El Bombardeo de Guernica” with comprehension questions and answer key.
*2 page reading “El Cuadro Guernica.”
*3 page reading “Los personajes y objetos de Guernica” with crossword puzzle and answer key.
*Activity in which students connect ANOTHER painting to a modern song "Jueves" and tie all knowledge together in a creative writing piece. Includes illustrated song lyrics and writing prompt sheet. Perfect summative assessment for this mini-unit!
*Slideshow highlighting the individual components of the painting Guernica
