I am a 5th grade teacher. This year, most of my students are unmotivated to learn math. For some reason, they came to me with a passion for disliking math. Bummer for me... but… CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!
Guess My Number: I'll give you clues, you guess my number!
When I find something that works for them, I try to make the most of it. I have a prize box I need to empty, so this year I’m playing MYSTERY BOX MATH! Each week I place random prizes in a box and hang one of these “GUESS MY NUMBER” cards on the wall. Each week, students get one guess at the number and from all the correct answers, a random person is drawn to win the prize. This simple thing gets all of my students to participate and THINK about math!
These can be used as I use them, as a daily warm up, as a learning station, or as an RTI tool. You can also have students make their own and give to a peer to try. It practices basic math skills and majorly place value… a need for all grades!
Laminate, Print on Cardstock, Print on Colored Paper… Jazz up as you see fit!
