Are you looking for something to pep up your daily math numeracy routine? Do you need a fun and engaging math warm-up? Do you want to get your students excited and thinking deeply about math concepts? These 'Guess My Math" tasks are the BEST way to achieve engaging and critical math thinking skills! Each task has a secret number, rule, shape, or fraction that is guessed by a series of clues. Each clue is revealed one by one until students have enough information to find out the secret number, rule, shape, or fraction. Students must think critically between after each clue is presented, using the information given to narrow down their answer pool and guide them closer and closer to the secret answer.

This product has 40 'Guess My Math' tasks over 4 different math topics.

  • Guess My Number (Place Value Concepts)
  • Guess My Rule (Input-Output Tables/Patterns/Table Relationships)
  • Guess My Shape (Geometry Concepts)
  • Guess My Fraction

Each topic has 10 tasks, where students are presented with clues, one-by-one, to figure out the secret answer. See below for an example from Guess My Number:

Clue 1: The secret number has four digits: 8, 6, 9, and 1.

Clue 2: The secret number is less than 6,000.

Clue 3: The secret number is odd.

Clue 4: If you subtract the digit in the hundreds place from the digit in the tens place, the difference would be 2.

The secret number is...1,689!!!

There are SO many ways to use this product:

  • project on classroom board and hold a whole-group numeracy routine time
  • digitally assign to students on desired learning platform and students type their responses
  • print out slides on paper and have students respond independently as a formative assessment
  • math/number talks
  • journal prompts
  • daily numeracy routines
  • be creative!
