Merry Christmas! It’s the time of year when little red and green packages will be appearing under Christmas trees all around the world! Help your student practice his/her inferencing skills by using a clue to guess the gift!
To prepare: print either the QR code activity (pages 3-10) or the regular version (pages 19-26). If you print the QR code version use any QR code scanner on a phone or tablet. Many can be downloaded for free. The codes are static and do not require internet connectivity. DO NOT PRINT BOTH SETS..
To play: lay all the unwrapped gift cards out on the table. The students should read the quotes on the gift box cards. Listen to what the student wants for Christmas and find the corresponding unwrapped gift. The QR code version allows students to check their answers by scanning the QR code. A teacher answer key is also included.
Use the included worksheets to expand your student’s thinking. After they use the clue to find the gift, write the answer. Next ask your student what other item this child could be describing.
The activity works either using QR code or without them.
To give your students lots of support, only place a few options in front of them. To increase the difficulty, play with all 30 cards.
