This is a PowerPoint presentation of a guessing game about heroes and heroines of the American Civil War. It is 37 pages, covering 16 people, both black and white, from both North and South. The Civil War was a period of bitter conflict for our nation. Not everyone would consider those from the other side to be “heroes,” but as educators, we need to be objective.
It can be played on the SMART Board, or just projected from the computer. Each click reveals a clue, and you can have the students guess who the person is. I have included (black and white) handouts of the slides, which you can use for flash cards.
Modification: For special education students, the teacher could create flash cards from the handouts, and give one or two of these to each student, before the "guessing" begins. They would have the "answers" right at hand.
