Our state tests are now more rigorous and require a lot more from our students. There isn't much out there that is already created at the level where the students need to be. So, I created a guide words review for my students to work through. Students are now set of guide words along with a list of words and asked to choose all of the words that would fall on the page with the given guide words. I teach my students to line each word up under each guide word (similar to the process of comparing numbers) to determine whether the words will fall on that page. If it does, they circle it and if not they cross it out. The more they practice with it, the better they get!
