This is a study guide for the book titled Assassins in the Cathedral, by Dave & Neta Jackson. In this book, Yacobo, a Ugandan boy, is distracted from writing a play for the Protestant Centennial celebration when Idi Amin and his soldiers persecute people.
There are 40 books in the TRAILBLAZER series. Each book focuses on the life of a Christian hero or a missionary. The books are classified as historical fiction because one or more fictional young people are included, but the information about the hero/missionary is true -- and there is a biographical section at the end of each book. The stories are suspenseful and engaging -- and readers learn about many Christian heroes and missionaries.
Assassins in the Cathedral is set in Uganda in the 1970s; the Christian hero is Festo Kivengere. TRAILBLAZER books were written for 8-12 year-olds, but -- due to the content of this book -- it is not recommended for students younger than eleven or twelve.
Each section of this guide contains vocabulary exercises, questions for discussion, and a reading activity. Extension activities and an answer key are also included.
