This resource offers 2 versions: a basic and advanced allowing for it to be used great for differentiated learning! Both may also be used for an additional level of scaffolding!
Students will begin by reading about the South African Valentine's Day tradition of pinning the name of one's crush on their sleeve. They will then be tasked with writing their own story of this practice. Using the graphic organizer, students will be guided through the prewriting processes so they can confidently begin writing their own story!
The basic version focuses on having a beginning, middle, and end and details to support each area.
The advanced version not only has beginning, middle, and end but also character development, perspective, and point of view while stressing the practice of showing rather than telling!
