Description

This 5th grade geometry math unit provides 20 standards-aligned whole group fifth grade math lessons followed up with the teacher-led small group lessons and materials for all standards.

Geometry Unit Focus

This unit focuses on fifth grade geometry skills. These lessons provide opportunities to categorize figures based on attributes, understand the coordinate plane, and plot ordered pairs to describe locations and form figures. There are several hands-on activities tied to the lessons as well as rigorous problems to prepare students for problem-solving. The final lesson in this unit (lesson 20) is a unit assessment. Every unit will contain a unit assessment as well as several quizzes.

Use the new teaching slides to enhance these lessons. They follow the sequence of these lessons with added teaching, problems, strategies, and student engagement.

Each guided math unit has problem-of-the-day math warm-ups, whole group and small group lesson plans and activities, quizzes, reviews, assessments, skill pages, and more. This is perfect for a main math curriculum for the year, supplementing any math curriculum, or providing math intervention.

All student materials are also translated and a Spanish Supplement is included in the download.

This wasn't exactly what I was looking for when it comes to the lesson. I thought it would be further in-depth. I do love most of your products, this just wasn't what I was looking for.

My students had some difficulty with the lessons, and they needed adapting a bit to reduce their frustrations, but overall they enjoyed the concepts and did well on the unit.

Use a pair of perpendicular number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the 0 on each line and a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates. Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., 𝘹-axis and 𝘹-coordinate, 𝘺-axis and 𝘺-coordinate).
Represent real world and mathematical problems by graphing points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.
Understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. For example, all rectangles have four right angles and squares are rectangles, so all squares have four right angles.
