This product is 80 PAGES of guided notes. Students fill in the missing information for each "chunk" of each unit listed below:
American Civil War
Civil War Reconstruction
Industrial Growth of the late 1800s
World War I
The Great Depression
World War II
The Cold War
Civil Rights of the 1950s and 1960s
The Last 50 Years
Over the past ten years, from home but for my classroom, I created this United States Study Guide. I have found it to be an effective method of helping students to organize and study essential vocabulary and content related to United States history.
I recommend that each unit within this guide be copied (front and back to save paper), three hole punched, and kept in individual student binders.
Or download this document to students' electronic devices (if they are fortunate enough to have them). Then, students can type their notes on each page. MS Office 365 Class Notebook or ClassFlow.com are just two of the many great computer programs now available and able to provide electronic copies of classroom materials to students.
Each unit guide is page numbered so that one unit guide flows into the next like a condensed review book. Instead of trying to review from hundreds of pages in a textbook, an undecipherable notebook, or a haphazard binder, students will have condensed and organized notes, graphic organizers, and activities from throughout the school year.
Each unit guide is also assigned a unique image in the top right corner to help students keep their binder notes organized in a visually appealing way. I recommend copying the corner image onto your own activities and assessments for each unit. This trick helps students to recall which unit your added activities and assessments are part of.
Although my guided notes correspond with most Pearson - Prentice Hall, McGraw-Hill, and various other textbooks, I have also designed, used and repeatedly modified PowerPoint documents that include most notes that students should fill into each guided unit. The PowerPoint presentations with pictures need to be uploaded separately but many are absolutely free! Just check out my TpT store... If you are looking for a full USS Guides "answer key" or a set of notes to get you started with your own presentation, I have recently made available a whole year-long set of PowerPoint notes (minus pictures) that directly corresponds with this product - it's available in my TpT for $1.00.
I plan to add more free PowerPoints and other products throughout the 2016-2017 school year. Feel free to message me if you are looking for something specific.
Time is so precious. If I could have just downloaded these guides ten years ago, I would have!
P.S. Don't forget to get your TpT credit by leaving feedback for me
