In 1964, Henry M. Littlefield wrote an article in which he argued that the Wizard of Oz was an allegory for the rise of Populism and the Election of 1896. In this product, the teacher uses a PowerPoint presentation while the students follow along using guided notes (the PP is numbered so it is easy for students to follow along and get the answers). The product begins with a "hook" activity to get students talking. Then, students are taken through a background of the book and a short history of Populism. Lastly, the students are shown the parallels between characters in the Wizard of Oz and the rise of Populism. Each character is explained and a visual is presented. This product holds students accountable for the information in the presentation. Visually appealing and easy to use! Includes a complete teacher key!
