Product Description
This product is a comprehensive guided reading kit for students reading between levels A-E, roughly the Kindergarten grade level or ANY reader reading at this level, regardless of their grade level. This kit includes 30 one-page fiction "stories." This pack in environmentally friendly because the entire story is on one piece of paper. Unlike other early reading books where there's only 3-5 words per page, these stories have all the words on one page...no collating, no folding, no stapling. Each "story" revolves around a detailed piece of clipart with text that is heavily supported by the picture. In addition to the text, there are 8 pre-reading and post-reading and writing activities to do with guided help. This product provides directions and details for a 5 day format per story, and/or a 30 minute lesson plan format per story. You pick, you choose what works best for you and your students. Do as many or as little activities per story as you wish. These activities require very little prep work on your part. It is definitely teacher-friendly in the prep time department...instead of no prep, let's say, easy prep. I even wrote the lower and higher level questions you should ask your students after reading, so you don't have to think of them. See, easy right?

These activities teach the following skills and strategies: observation and inferring skills, retelling, recalling, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, speaking, discussing, phonics, spelling, writing vocabulary, writing sentences, writing stories, guided reading, guided writing and print concepts.

These stories are perfect for the teacher OR a paraprofessional, an interventionist, SLP teacher, special education teacher, a classroom volunteer, a parent, a homeschooling parent, or a substitute teacher.

These stories and reading, writing activities are intended to be used for guided reading or any form of small group guided literacy and language instruction *with* an adult, but are also perfect to include in your sub plans, to use as homework or as an assessment. While some of the reading activities could be done as independent work, that isn't really the intention, but you are certainly free to use these sheets *however* you wish in your classroom.

These stories are ideal for on, above and below grade level students, ELL students, students with reading, writing or language IEPS, literacy interventions and speech goals, high flying Kindergartners, and 2nd-5th grade students reading between level A-E. Between all 30 stories in this product, students will learn over 250 Tier 1 vocabulary words around concepts in A-E titles, like birthday party, clothes, park, friends, family, toy store, snowman, picnic, zoo, just to name a few. (See Table of Contents in the Preview for the titles and levels of all 30 stories).

Paperless technology options included as well as fun reading activities to do with 10 different iPad apps. In fact, the file download for this product includes one 332 page PDF file and one folder of 332 .png image files to import and use with your classroom iPads.

Also, no matter which state, country or territory around the world you live, the guided reading, guided writing, guided vocabulary, and guided discussions included in this product are research based around the world and grounded in the foundational guided reading research of Fountas and Pinnell and reading intervention research of Marie Clay.

Level A-E Set Available HERE.
I will also be creating another set for Levels J-P, and P-X. So, be sure to click the (green star) Follow Me text in the upper right side of this screen *under my picture) if you want to be notified by email when these sets are for sale. In the meantime, for other stories appropriate for Kindergarten reading, Close Reading Passages: Animals, is very popular so be sure to check them out HERE.

My Reading Strategy Card would be a perfect product companion to this product as you support your students in the very important reading skill of self-monitoring their own reading...a skill that is critical for level E-J readers.

And last, the prereading activity in this product is most like, not exactly, but similar in the vocabulary and phonics focus of my Label It! products. Click here to see Label It! Volume 1.
