My goal this year was not to just focus on guided reading levels. It is not enough to help close the gap in reading and after teaching reading for almost a decade I have realized that there is a bigger problem than the child is just not reading "on level".

So, this year I created these guided reading binder pages to help break my groups into 4 groups.

- COMPREHENSION GROUP: Every week I assess my students on a Monday and then gradually release students each day to complete higher-level activities which enables me to hone in on a smaller group by the time Friday arrives. I give daily exit tickets to make sure the content is being mastered and staple this to their test. I keep all of this in my comprehension binder.

- FLUENCY GROUP: My fluency students consist of all different readers who were low on their fluency when I tested quarterly reading assessment. These fluency probes that I get on Reading A-Z are my favorite because they're so fast. I can listen to several kids read in less than 15 minutes or ask a volunteer/tutor to take this over for me.

- ACCURACY GROUP: In this group, I analyze spelling tests and see exactly where their mistakes lie within their spelling. I keep these spelling tests in this binder and if the skill was not mastered, it is retaught the following week.

- GUIDED READING GROUP: I base these groups according to their reading level and usually pull the lower readers at the end of my mini-lesson. These students complete the same graphic organizer as my other students using a book on their level. Or I split my students into literature circles and give them books on their level while walking around and collecting data.

These binders have been amazing! Our reading specialists can easily walk into my room and quickly find any piece of data they need on a student. I have also had administrators praise me for coming to an ARD or 504 meeting prepared. When asked to pull data for a student who may require services, I can quickly pull from these binders and make copies.

I created these in black and white so that I can easily make copies and not have to worry about having everything in color.

I also made you binder tabs that you can edit and put in student names. On the front of the tabs, you can write data about this student to make it more easily accessible.

Several pages are EDITABLE so that you can add your entire class list on sheets where you are assessing all students. Make sure and check out the preview.

I hope you find these as a great tool. I love mine and love that I am already seeing growth in reading because of my constant analyzing and pulling of groups.

My students who "opt out" of my tests complete these higher-level activities:
