I love using these bookmarks in my guided reading groups! I print off multiple copies for students to use and laminate them. Students can use a fine point dry-erase marker to write comments.
While in guided reading groups, students can jot down any unfamiliar words, questions, connections, or something they wonder about on the bookmark. After the assigned reading, discussion about comments written on bookmarks opens opportunity for students to have a deeper conversation about what they read. The deeper conversation then gives the students opportunity for a deeper understanding of the text!
