Tick the appropriate boxes and fill in the information of what you will be focusing on for particular guided reading sessions.
Are there particular key vocab words you want to look at and discuss in the book?
What reading strategy does this group need to focus on today?
What comprehension strategy/ies do you want this group to focus on?
If they struggle with digraphs, what digraph/s are in the book that you want to look at with them?

Also included is a letter to send home to parents that explains how they can support their child with reading at home.
Last year I had a lot of parents who were unsure about how much involvement they needed to have in their child's nightly reading, and didn't know what to do.

Headings are:
Should the books be easy or difficult?
Make it routine
Ease into the book
Guide them!
Comprehension is important!

I have included some strategies for decoding, and simple comprehension questions they can ask their child before, during and after reading.
I put this letter in my students reading satchels in the first week of school to take home.
