My Guided Reading Skills Modeling Pages for Small Group Instruction are a companion to my Guided Reading Skills Note Cards for Teachers (levels A-J, refers to Fountas/Pinnell leveling / a conversion chart is included for other various leveling programs). Guided Reading Note Cards For Teachers FREEBIE
As with the Note Cards, these Modeling Pages are not intended to address every skill at each level. They focus on some of the most important skills needed at each level to successfully read that level.
I often modeled strategies using a new or familiar book at guided reading group but, really wanted a modeling tool that explicitly showed one skill. I wanted to be able to model for the students and then to have them apply the skill when they read the book. I use these modeling pages for a quick mini modeling lesson prior to reading a book at guided reading group.
These pages could also be used for intervention, for parent helpers who work with students AND to show how instruction is differentiated during guided reading.
A modeling page is included for each skill listed on the Guided Reading Skills Note Card. For example, at level A students learn 1-1 matching when reading by using their finger to point to each word. The modeling page has simple sentences with an arrow under each word showing how to place the finger under each word as it is read. The last sentence has no arrows so the students can give it a try. Please check out the PREVIEW to see a variety of the modeling pages and decide if this product will meet your needs.
Slide the pages into a clear plastic sleeve, clip into a binder and you are ready to go.
The clear plastic sleeve would allow you to write on the pages when needed.
I hope my guided reading modeling pages will be a helpful addition to your guided reading lessons!
