Extend students' abilities to decode words with additional practice on using their eagle eyes and fishy lips to decode words. These puzzles and printables can be used during guided reading for extended word decoding practice or can be used during centers. Students practice sounding out the beginning sound (fishy lips) and using their eagle eyes to match animal pictures and animal names.
*The puzzles can be used with or without the printables, and the printables can be used with or without the puzzles.
Includes in Color and Black Lined:
-6 Eagle Eyes Printables for matching pictures to the words (picture clues)
-6 Fishy Lips Printables for matching words to pictures (includes word box option for non-puzzle use and a non-word box option for puzzle use)
-Beginning sound chart to be used for instruction, as an answer key to know which animal matches which word, and to introduce some of the less known animals such as the newt and quail
The puzzles are great for making these decoding strategies hands-on and work great as manipulatives when paired with the printables. This works great as word work too.
