I think we can all agree that guided reading is a necessary component in any balanced literacy classroom. How do you know if you are teaching the skills and strategies the children need in order to build a strong processing system? This product will layout for you the skills that are necessary at certain levels, prompts to use to promote the building of these skills, and word work suggestions to solidify the learning. Also, included are behaviors to notice that may signal processing issues or confusions and comprehension areas to focus on.
I have broken the reading levels into these sections:
Section 1 – Pages 7 and 8
• Emergent (Basal: Readiness, Fountas and Pinnell: A and B, Reading Recovery: 1 and 2, Rigby: 1 - 4, DRA: A and 1 - 2) This applies to mainly kindergarten and early 1st grade readers.
Section 2 – Pages 9 and 10
• Early (Basal: Pre-Primer 1 and 2, Fountas and Pinnell: C and D, Reading Recovery 3 – 6, Rigby: 5, DRA: 3, 4) This applies to mainly late kindergarten and early 1st grade readers.
Section 3 – Pages 11 and 12
• Early (Basal Pre-Primer 2 and 3 and Primer, Fountas and Pinnell D, E, F, Reading Recovery 6 - 10, Rigby 6-8, DRA 4-10) This applies to mainly early and middle 1st grade readers.
Section 4 – Pages 13 and 14
• Early Fluent (Basal Grade 1, Fountas and Pinnell G, H, I, J, Reading Recovery 11 – 18, Rigby 9-12, DRA 12-20) This applies to middle and late 1st grade and early 2nd grade.
