Need a way to keep student strategies and goals in one place for guided reading? I have student sheets for all levels that address comprehension, accuracy, and fluency strategies applicable for each level. Once students show me they are able to use a strategy, I highlight it in green. The strategy I want them to focus on is in yellow. This helps me see at a glance what they have mastered, and where they are working on. Each sheet contains strategies needed for those levels, as noted by Fountas and Pinnell in their LLI kits. I print two sheets for each student; one for my binder and one for their data notebook. After each time I listen to them read, we talk about what they did well and one focus strategy to work on. They really like adding up all the green highlights!
