This product is designed for writing about reading during guided reading time. I like it to call it "guided writing" because I am helping my learners write about their reading through summaries, informational responses, asking questions, etc. Along the way I am doing a lot of on-the-spot help with the writing process.
This product includes 4 varieties of guided writing paper to use during your guided reading time. Each year, I create guided writing notebooks for each of my students using one of the templates included. The variations of the paper are helpful depending on where your learners are at with their writing skills.
I love using the "Criteria for Success" at the bottom of the writing page for students so that they can go back and check their work for conventions. It is a very helpful tool that always remind my kiddos of what to do as a writer.
The last 3 pages included in this product are vowel/digraph charts which are also used as work pages for students during their guided writing time about books. This is a great space for students to practice writing words they are unsure of, use sound boxes to help student stretch words, as well as practice letter formation on letters that were tricky for the student. Students can bring letters or words to fluency after they are done writing to help build automaticity.
When I make my guided writing books, the vowel/digraph chart is above the writing page so that students always have a reference to refer to while writing or a place to practice to build confidence.
I hope you find these guided writing pages helpful in your guided reading groups!
