If you're looking for a sweet and fun way to target describing you've found it! This activity helps students realize all the different ways objects can be described. With an activity, worksheets, and craft there is something for everyone!
What you get:
- 5 Describing Component Gumball Machines ( 2 machines per page )
- 24 object cards
- 60 Gumboil cards
- 3 Do-A-Dot Describing Pages
- A Describing Craftivity for kids to show off their skills!
How to Play:
-Place the gumball machine mats on a table and give students lots of ( at least 10 each ) gumball cards. Have students select an object card.
- As the student makes a describing statement, have them put a gumball on the gumball machine that best fits that statement. For example, if a student says that a dog is a kind of animal, they would put a gumball on the CATEGORY gumball machine. This can help you see if they are using the same type of describing statements and need to work on others.
Have students choose a picture from the 12 choices and glue it into the gumball machine on page 17. Have them write ( or help them
write ) describing statements about the object. They can then color in the gumball next to the statement. Glue the pages onto construction paper and attach them to each other for a nice presentation.
