Sight word recognition and spelling is an important component to reading and writing in the primary classroom. It is important for our students to be able to quickly identify sight words and then to be able to spell them. This activity makes a fun literacy center, fast finisher activity, or morning work task. Plus it's editable, so you can customize it to your classroom sight words list.

Included in this packet:

-2 “I Can” pages

-3 master word lists

-133 word cards {divided into 3 sets}

-Gumball letters to make words

-A student work mat

-An optional recording sheet

-6 no-prep follow up practice pages – 2 for each list

-An editable version to make your own cards

The sight words in this packet are broken down into three different lists. (Download the preview to read the words included in each of the lists.) The lists and cards are color-coded to help keep you organized.

This is an easy to prep activity: just print, cut, and laminate the sight word cards. You can have students use the bubble gum letters included or use magnetic letters.

Two "I Can" pages are included to promote independent workers. An optional student work mat is also included. This work mat comes in handy for students who need a defined work space. Students place the word card on the mat and spell the word in the area provided.

You can also use the gumball mats as flash cards. Or print two copies of the mats for students to play a "Memory" type game.

Also included are six no prep practice pages. These make great activities for fast finishers, morning work, homework, or extra practice.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a zip file. It includes a PDF with 133 pre-made cards and and an editable version for you to customize your own words. You will need PowerPoint to edit the file. I used the font "KG Primary Penmanship" for the sight word cards. You can download the font on TpT - it is a free download for personal use.
