Gummy Bear Math!
This year we started a new math program, enVisionMATH, Pearson Realize.
It uses a lot of “caves” in it’s drawings where the students have to put some animals in the cave and some animals out of the caves. They are then asked to write equations to go along with their pictures representing the two parts and the whole.
One day we needed to add a little fun to our lesson, so I tore holes into Styrofoam cups to create caves and we used gummy bears as manipulatives. Little teddy bear cookies could be used as well. Of course we ate them after the math lesson.
Here’s is a picture of a cute little book I read before our lesson.
