This activity has each student measuring a gummy worm in cm. Then they stretch their gummy worm and measure it again. Finally, they create a measurement word problem by finding out what the difference was between the first and the second measurement.
Hands on fun to begin a lesson on measuring word problems.
There is a second page of measuring word problems for students to practice.
CCSS.Math.Content.2.MD.B.5 Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve word problems involving lengths that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as drawings of rulers) and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
