I use BOTH the introductory and advanced notes with my students. I start with the introductory notes to give an overview of 'gustar' and similar verbs. Then, I use the extended notes to teach the concept more in depth.

Introductory Notes:
The introductory notes start with and in-depth review of definite and indefinite articles in Spanish. Next, students are introduced to the Indirect Object Pronouns. After that students learn the verbs: Gustar, Encantar, & Faltar. Students learn which of these conjugations are used and when. Next students learn how to use 'A' as a clarifier. Finally students learn about how to talk about what the subject doesn't like, complete with additional vocabulary and negative examples. Students then have an opportunity to practice with 12 specific questions.

Advanced (Extended) Notes:
These notes take a close look at putting all of the information together to make sentences. The emphasis on the extended notes is to break down the concepts based on the indirect object pronoun. The notes start with 'me' sentences followed by 'te' sentences. Next we look at 'le' sentences and emphasize the importance of using a clarifier. Then the notes cover 'nos' and 'os' sentences. After that we look at 'les' sentences with additional emphasis put on the potential need for a clarifier. Finally, we take an in-depth look at liking an infinitive, talking about what you don't like, asking questions, and other Spanish verbs that follow the same structure.
