This is a complete planner for a gymnastics routine. It was designed for use as a summative (final) assessment project in a Physical Education class. It includes instructions, brainstorming section, routine planning graphic, rubric, and reflection questions. This planner can be used for almost any level of gymnastics ability. In addition, the format and structure of this planner is basic enough that it allows each student to adapt his or her routine to their own individual level of skill. This activity assumes that the students have already had several class periods to learn, practice, and receive feedback on their performance of basic gymnastics movements. It requires about 5-6, 40 minute class periods, which include introduction to the assessment/project, brainstorming, planning, practicing (practicing, practicing...), performing, and reflecting.
