HANDS ON and who doesn't like PLAY DOH!
Using Play Doh, students manipulate the convergent (collision) process using the concept of plate tectonics. Featured are the anticline and syncline properties of folded mountains (i.e. Appalachians and Himalayas).
Step by step lab instructions with conclusion questions. Answers can be written, cut and pasted, and/or laminated with Velcro.
Cut and paste or Velcro and laminate for special education applications and alternative assessments.
Within the classroom, this activity has been consistently very successful and acclaimed by students in grades 5th – 9th within multiple types of schools - public, private, and charter.
This work has also been shared at workshops, in-services, and conferences.
