This Harriet Tubman unit includes a lesson plan, a PowerPoint, several worksheets, and an activity.
The EATS lesson plan includes Essential Question, activating strategy, teaching strategies, Exit Ticket and more.
This lesson is dependent on reading the two texts “A Glory over Everything” and “All Aboard with Thomas Garrett.” Please make sure you have access to these two stories.
The two printable worksheets includes a KWL chart, vocabulary, partner activities, and more. The third worksheet lists the summary in sentence strips for students to cut and put into the correct sequence. The final printable worksheet compares the two stories of Harriet Tubman.
The PowerPoint includes the vocabulary, Essential Question, activities, etc, so that the class can follow the lesson visually. (It is also nice to have a PowerPoint for any guest observers to see that you have prepared for this lesson!)
This is the lesson I've taught- and improved- with my students for years. I hope you have great success with your Harriet Tubman unit!
