Along with this fun educational board game activity there is a short article about the life of famous American author Nathaniel Hawthorne and a plot outline of his novel The Scarlet Letter.
After the article and plot outline are read, the students can start the game.
"Annoyance" is similar to other board games you (or likely some of your students and friends) are already familiar with such as versions of Candy Land or Aggravation.
You may use pieces of paper or, say, bottle caps for moving pieces. I've used enjoyable educational games like this for years, and the students have always loved them.
