I created this short ELA wring assignment so that my students could get just a glimpse into an interdisciplinary assignment to make them better understand how their classes work together for their education. It can be used in any history classroom – world, US history, state history, European history, etc., It can also be used as a full sheet, back to back full sheet, two page worksheet, a small half sheet assignment, what even works best for the teacher.
There is a one-sided sheet, a back sided extra page and a half sheet as needed. I have used each depending on the chapter(s) and the need at the time.
The assignment was left wide open to as wide range to lengths to get students used to simply writing – 250-1000 words. I did not want to scare students off so I gave them a chance to just write. I have had many that wrote WAY more than 1000 words but that is okay too. I also wanted THEM to choose who they would write about instead of me choosing. All I ever said was no PLAGERISM no coping from WIKIPEDIA and I would be okay.
I generally got some really good assignments simply because I did not limit them.
I have always loved this assignment and the students did also.
