Product Description

This is my FIRST in a series of Bingo games. There may even be more with state symbols, state landmarks and more. I am always looking for something else to encourage my students to learn more about the United ‘States’, its locations/towns/cities and/or its geography, its countries and even be more with state symbols, its state landmarks and more.

It also made me think about other teachers who might use the ‘game’ my students love. This is just another way to get students involved in the material we have been studying whether it is counties, landmarks, waterways, figures, events, time periods, wars, generations, or weather. We had a great time in classes and my students ‘cards/spaces’ are always different, and they always love any extra credit.

First, print the BINGO sheets on regular ditto paper – one for each student in your class(es). Then print the cards on cardstock and/or paper then laminate the cardstock ones (to keep them and put all cards in a zip-lock bag to save them from year to year).

Cut the ‘calling’ cards and shuffle the cards and get ready to call words when student sheets are ready. Have student's go thru and pick out names they think you might call out and write the names in INK in each of the spaces/boxes on the game sheet. Once they finish, go around a check the sheets then initial each sheet "as ready to play". When ALL sheets are ready to play, start calling out names/words from the cards.

(Make sure you initial ANY scratch-outs or changes made BEFORE the game begins then initial the box in upper right corner). Have students mark their X's with a colored pen, marker, pencil, highlighter, etc.; so that you and they can see their markings.

Continue to call words still someone shouts "BINGO". Check their sheet to see if it is correct. If so, then assign them the appropriate extra credit. If not, continue to call names/words until someone calls BINGO. At that point, continue to call out words until all the extra points are given or time runs out. This game is based on the “my Louisiana love of ‘games/parties’.”

A note from a teacher about my other state’s Bingo game "My third graders loved using this game. My 8th graders also loved playing this game. I had my third graders write the names in the boxes but that took a long time. I decided that when I use it again with 3rd graders, I would have them just glue the names into the boxes."

My 8th graders wrote them in, but it took about 5-10 minutes of class time before we started the game, however, after playing this and my other bingo games, they got faster and faster, they just wanted to earn the extra credit points.

There are 24 spaces and 25+ names/words/items to choose from so that each time you play it is a totally NEW game.
