The idea came from my Dad's and my favorite newscaster, Paul Harvey. He always did the news then when he got to the end of page one in his notes he would say "Now the rest of the story…" and I always would sit and wait through the commercials for what came next. He was mesmerizing.
The idea as I became a history teacher was that the books NEVER told the whole story of how, what, when, why, and where a story took place. Over the years I read lots of Paul Harvey's books and still have many of them.
Then he would always end with this famous line "Now you know the rest of the story". I know it has made me a better teacher who loves to tell the story, if it is about our parishes/counties, French/Spanish/Irish/Americans, Wars, battles, etc.
