This is a great tool for increasing fluency! My students put a new focus board containing spelling words and words to know from our HM Journeys curriculum in their 3-ring binder each week. They then have them at their finger tips for practice with partners, small group, aide, or at home. We time them reading the focus board on Monday or Tuesday and then again Wed. and/or Friday. Their goal is to beat their OWN time. We celebrate with each other when they beat their time. On Friday they may get a small treat if their time improves significantly or at your discretion. I have also included a simple data chart to track your students work if you choose to do so.
