This worksheet is an activity designed to be used after reading The Last Dragon in the 4th grade Houghton Miflin reading series. In this activity, students assume the role of Peter and write a letter to persuade a character from the story to assist with fixing the dragon. It can be used as a May Do activity or as an assignment for the whole class. It is a limited writing piece, and therefore does not go through all the stages of writing. It has a prewriting section and then lines to write a final draft without having students edit and revise. There is a modified version where students can circle words to use in the opening and closing rather than brainstorming these words on their own. The 6+1 traits are not mentioned on this assignment, but Word Choice, Voice, and Ideas would work well.
