This product provides the picture support for Therapy Techniques for Cleft Palate Speech & Related Disorders by Karen J. Golding-Kushner, Ph.D. A panel of experts contributed to the therapy approach described in the book: Linda D’Antonio, John Riski, Robert Shprintzen, Mary Anne Witzel and Antonio Ysunza. I have found this resource very useful in selecting targets and cueing speech sounds in articulation therapy both prior to and after surgical management. I like that it focuses on how to produce the target sound correctly and not on the error itself. It builds on the sounds a child can produce (e.g., m and n) then shapes sounds with the same placement (e.g., p/b and t/d). A coworker, Kathryn Duren, MA, CCC-SLP, summarized the progression of targets and cueing techniques presented in the text. Thirty three pages of corresponding pictures are included as well as a sound progression checklist.
