This lesson plan is meant for advanced art classes at the High School level. This project pushes students to think outside of the box for inspiration and creating their works of art. It is an interdisciplinary lesson between Language Arts and Fine Arts.
Students are challenged to write a personal biography using no more or less than six words, a six word memoir. This trend, started by Ernest Hemmingway, and continued by Smith Magazine, is a great basis to inspire a personal work of art.
This project can be used to encourage advanced art students to create personal works of art, or the art lesson aspect could be an additional assignment to a language arts assignment.
This lesson plan packs includes:
-A thorough lesson plan (including big idea, EQs, goals, objectives, national visual art and language art standards, step-by-step instructions, supply list, checklist, critique worksheet, and rubric).
-Printables to use in the classroom
-PowerPoint to introduce the assignment
-Easy to read displayable lesson plan
Encourage students to expand their creative side using both the written language and artistic talent!
