Are you students having trouble interpreting distance-time or speed-time graphs? This ready to go unit will ensure that they know it very well by the time they complete it! The NGSS HS-PS2-1 is dealing with motion, forces and acceleration.
The unit is divided into several components which include three distant-time graphs that the students must interpret, plus three speed-time graphs. Each of the graphs have at least eight different changes of motion for the students to record in a corresponding chart. I have included answer keys for everything in this unit plus detailed teacher notes, keywords and basic reference guides for the slopes of the different types of graphs. At the end of the unit the students are given 3 different “stories” for which they must draw their own slopes on blank graphs. Two of these stories are distance-time graphs and one is a speed-time graph.
This is uploaded as a PowerPoint that you can either print out or send to the students’ devices to be loaded in Google Slides. I have found it useful to load them into another program that can annotate on an image(Keynote, Pages, Notability, etc) when they do the last three activities that involve drawing on the graph. I use digital interactive science notebooks, using Google Slides, in my classroom so after they annotate they take screenshots and insert them into their notebooks.
