Product Description
My own pre-algebra course was self-designed and was continually modified from 2005 to 2014 because it was absolutely needed in the secondary charter school I have taught at.

The impetus and inspiration behind the course was that all too many new students were not ready for high school and we had no real remedy for that--and no way to ascertain the depth of the problem.

The course has focused on properties of numbers in the first semester and fractions in the second semester. Altogether, well over 125 skills are included from grade 3 to grade 6.

The 8 survey questionnaires included here are of different lengths and are, basically, random collections of problems from 100 of skills mentioned above. You might want just a 15 or 20 or 25 problem questionnaire or a longer 30 or 40 or 50 problem questionnaire. Each has an answer key included.

If you are on the fence as to whether or not this approach is worthwhile, let me tell you that the majority of students are grateful for having had this course.

ANOTHER THING: I have tried the one-size-fits-all multiple-choice questionnaires that are supposed to give you an idea of a student's weaknesses. They don't. YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO SEE THE WORK OF A STUDENT AND NOT JUST WHETHER OR NOT HE/SHE SELECTED a, b, c or d.

[The problems in All WORKSHEETS and PREVIEWS are printed in difficulty (1 [easy], 2 [not so easy], 3 [proficiency] up to 4 [mastery]) order within a skill. The actual difficulty level appears slightly to the left of the DK box of each problem in a very small font. Also, instructional references appear on worksheets but are optional on quizzes.]

The 2 semesters of Pre-Algebra that I have had to concoct and hone over the last decade. So, look at the HS [Remedial] Pre-Algebra A Sampler: (textbook-less course) and the HS [Remedial] Pre-Algebra B Sampler: (textbook-less course).

The 1st THREE units in the actual Pre-Algebra course that might interest you are the UNIT 1: Properties of Numbers , the UNIT 2: PLACE VALUE and the UNIT 3: Multiplication, etc.. More will follow—including the entire course if there is demonstrated interest.

You might also want to check out the the Grade 9-12 Summary, the HS [Remedial] Algebra 1A Sampler: (textbook-less course), the HS [Remedial] Algebra 1B Sampler: (textbook-less course) , the HS [Remedial] Algebra 2A Sampler: (textbook-less course) , the HS [Remedial] Algebra 2B Sampler: (textbook-less course), the HS [Remedial] Applied Math I Sampler: (textbook-less course), the HS [Remedial] Applied Math II Sampler: (textbook-less course), the HS [Remedial] Geometry A Sampler: (textbook-less course) and the HS [Remedial] Geometry B Sampler: (textbook-less course) for grades 9-11.
