Frustrated with World History text materials that only provide a cursory look at the ancient world? This interactive web project allows students to take an in-depth look at connections to geography, everyday life, social hierarchy, government and beliefs in ancient Egypt that goes beyond the surface knowledge of text materials. The first page is a cover page. Pages one through seven are the student handout with questions based on the web link provided and to be completed as students browse and read designated sections of the website. The questions are designed to engage students in a deeper understanding of life in ancient Egypt. An enrichment activity with corresponding web link is provided on the last page that allows students to experiment with using hieroglyphics. Pages eight through fourteen provides a key for teacher use during follow-up discussion. The website for this web activity is the British Museum, it also offers additional interactive games that go beyond the handout requirements and could be used as further enrichment activities.
