This is a complete stand-alone activity book for use with the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. This activity book encompasses all of the handwriting skills needed for students to be successful - all in one book.
The activity book offers guided letter formation pages with uppercase and lowercase letter practice, "letter checks", and a picture for students to color that incorporates phonemic awareness. There is a "words for me" and "sentence for me" page for each letter, that expands on sight-word knowledge and allows for discussion on sentence structure, word spacing, and ending punctuation. Each letter also offers a fun poem for students to copy and illustrate. The poems contain a focus on the target letter and allow for creative reading and artistic drawing. Reviews and assessments are also included in the activity book. There is one review page and one assessment page per each set of 4 letters. The review pages review letters and words with students. The assessment page assesses students ability to correctly write the focus letters and their ability to copy a complete sentence correctly.
A numbers section offers students practice in writing number words and numerals. Students practice their numbers through the use of the rhyme "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe". A complete number review page follows the lesson pages.
The final portion of the activity book contains many of the activities that are hard to find in one book when you need them. This additional practice section contains practice pages on punctuation marks, apostrophes, quotations, word spacing, writing on different types of lines, days of the week, month abbreviations, lowercase letter matching, HWT-themed practice such as frog jump capital review and magic c letters, and many more.
There is a final check in the back of the book that tests students knowledge of all the capital letters, all lowercase letters, and the numbers 1-9.
